4 Piastres Denomination
No major varieties of the 4 piastres denomination have been recorded. A number of minor ones do exist mostly due to over inking during the printing process or slight plate cracks, two of which are shown below
Two 4 piastres stamps on a cover postmarked Larnaca 19 January 1899 to Constantinople. Two piastres pay for the registration fee and the other six the triple foreign letter rate. The cover is from the Imperial Ottoman Bank. An arrival back stamp of the British post-office in Constantinople of 25 January 1899 is also present.
The 4 piastre stamp paying for the double letter weight on a pre-registered, 2 piastres pre-paid envelope from Larnaca, 9 April 1898, to Germany. With an intermediary post mark on the reverse at Alexandria - Egypt of 14 April 1898 and two arrival cancellations at Löbau of 19 April 1898.
