Special Usages - Non-U.P.U. & Insured mail
The 1 and 4 piastres stamps on a pre-paid (2 piastres) registered cover, both of which cancelled with the Larnaca “942” barrel cancellation and the oval registration stamp dated 21 August 1894 and the date stamp of Larnaca on the reverse to Norfolk in England. The registration fee having been pre-paid with the purchace of the envelope, 2 piastres paying for the normal rate for foreign letters and the remaining 3 piastres for the insured mail as indicated in red at the top of the envelope “Insured 3 Pounds”.
Pre-paid, registered envelope paying the 2 piastres registration fee with one ½ piastre, two 30 Paras and 1 one piastre stamps for a total rate of 3 piastres, all stamps cancelled with the “974” barrel stamp from Kyrenia. The cover also has the Kyrenia circular date stamp of 3 October 1892 as well as the red oval registered stamp of the same date. Two piastres paying for the overseas letter rate and the extra piastre for the additional fee for a non-UPU destination. Two transit stamps from Cyprus, Nicosia and Larnaca, both 4 October 1892, Alexandria in Egypt 10 October, two in Italy of which one of Genova 15 October and an arrival at Argentina of 9 November 1892.
